Anti- Ragging Workshop

Under the able leadership of our Honorable Secretory, DMET, Dr. Vikram Gandhi, Institute of Dental Studies and Technologies, Modinagar, organised an Anti-Ragging workshop by Dr. Sanjay Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Surgery, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi on 4th April 2024.

The objective was to highlight the National Policy on Ragging and outline the Anti-Ragging guidelines of the institute and highlight the college policy of strict intolerance towards any form of ragging in the Campus and create awareness among students against ragging.

The program was inaugurated by Lamp lightening for invoking the blessings of Maa Saraswati by Dr. Nidhi Agarwal, Principal, IDST Dental College, Director PG studies, Dr. Gaurav Mittal, Chief guest Dr. Sanjay Singh, Professor and Head, Department of Oral Surgery, Jamia Millia Islamia and Heads of various departments.
The program was attended by all the Heads of the Departments, faculty members, and students of the MDS, BDS batch 2023 and MDS and BDS IInd year students.
Welcome address was provided by Dr. Nidhi Agarwal, Principal, IDST dental college followed by anti ragging workshop.

Times Business Award 2024

It gives us immense pleasure and happiness to inform you that our college has been awarded the “Excellence in Dental Education” award by the prestigious Times group in their Times Business Award 2024 North Region. Receiving this award has been a humbling experience for us as we stood there because of all your hard work and dedication. We are particularly grateful to all the heads of the departments for their untiring efforts in nurturing the college to become worthy of this honour. This would not have been possible without the dedication and countless hours of hard work of each one of our faculty members. We thank all our staff, with folded hands, for their contribution in the success of IDST Modinagar.

Fresher's party "Aurora 2024" @IDST Modinagar

"College Fresher's party is the beginning of a new Era"
Fresher's Function "Aurora 2024" was organised for BDS Batch 2023-27and MDS Batch 2023-26 on 7th March 2024. The event was patronized under the mentorship and inventiveness of Dr. Vikram Gandhi, Secretary, DMET and our esteemed Principal Dr.Nidhi Agarwal, IDST Modinagar. 
The Event was graced by Mrs Asha Gandhi, Chairperson DMET, Mrs Aneesha Gandhi, Member DMET, Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal, Principal IDST, Head of All Departments and Faculty Members.
The event was an amalgamation of cultural extravaganza and social congregation. Students exhibited their talent through fashion show, dance, singing etc., pulsating ambience, foot tapping performances, blissful gestures, flickering faces and sumptuous lunch were defining moments of the day. Best performers were crowned into four categories Mrs and Mr Best Dressed, Mrs and Mr Personality, Mrs and Mr Talented and Mrs and Mr Fresher at the end of the event.
The event provided a platform to the newcomers to build rapport with their batchmates, seniors and faculty and become a part of IDST fraternity. 
The entire event was organised under the flagship of Dr Nidhi Aggarwal, Principal, Dr Achint Juneja, vice principal and coordinated by Dr Suprabha Rathee, Cultural Secretary,Professor , Dept. of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Dr Stuti Mohan, Professor, Dept. Of Orthodontics. And Cultural Committee.

“THE RESTORATIVE BIOLOGY- Biomimetic Principles and Its Applications in Anterior and Posterior Esthetic Restorations”

Under the Flagship and Leadership of Dr. Vikram Gandhi, Secretary, DMET and our esteemed Principal Dr. Nidhi Agarwal, IDST Modinagar, conducted a two day CDE programme on the topic “THE RESTORATIVE BIOLOGY- Biomimetic Principles and Its Applications in Anterior and Posterior Esthetic Restorations” on the 19th& 20th December 2023 in the IDST Auditorium and Simulation Lab. The course mentor was the master himself Dr. Nikhil Bahuguna.
Learning Biomimetic Dentistry has never been easy! It was a very fruitful two-day programme with enthusiastic participation of our Postgraduate Students and Interns. The event started off with the Lighting of the Lamp to seek blessing of Goddess Sarawasti, followed by the inaugural speeches by the Principal. The event kicked-off on high note with captivating Lectures followed by Live demonstration under a Microscope and Hands-on under magnification in the state of art Simulation Lab. The Lectures, Demonstrations and Hands-on were conducted on the following – 
1. Direct Composite Veneer.
2. Pre-Fabricated Composite Edelweiss Dentistry Veneer.
3. Posterior Composite Restoration with the use of Restorative Fibers and Bulk Fill Techniques.
4. Post and Core using Minimally Invasive Pin Posts and Adaptive Flexible Glass Fibers
The event was concluded by valedictory function in which a token of appreciation was presented to our guest speaker by the Head of Organizing Committee Dr. Rishi Manan, Prof Head, Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics. This event is yet another instance of highlighting the institute academic excellence in increasing the acumen of the students. A special thanks to our dynamic Secretary DMET, Dr. Vikram Gandhi for his constant support and motivation for making event a grand success.

Overcoming Thesis Roadblocks

A CDE program was organised by Department of Orthodontics, IDST on the topic “Overcoming Thesis Roadblocks” on 25th Jan., 2023 under the guidance of Dr. Achint Juneja (Professor & Head, Department of Orthodontics)
The lecture series and workshop aimed to guide the post graduates and faculty about planning and execution of dissertation and also aid in publication of articles in journals.
Guest speakers of the CDE were Dr. Priyanka Kapoor (Professor & Incharge, Deptt. of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, Jamia Millia Islamia) and Dr. Aman Chowdhry (Professor, Deptt. of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, Jamia Millia Islamia).
The participants of the program included PG students from various specialities as well as the faculty members and was also graced by the presence of Dr. Nidhi Agarwal (Principal Incharge), Dr. Gaurav Mittal (Director PG Studies) as well as various heads of departments. 
Overall, the program became a grand success which was evident in the outpour of positive feedback.
We thank the management for encouraging us in organizing such knowledge sharing programs for the benefit of the post-graduates and the faculty.

Students achievements @ 5th World Dental Sciences and Oral Health Conference

IDST stands proud to announce that undergraduate students of our college won laurels at 5th World Dental Sciences & Oral Health Conference by Cynodent held in Gujrat from 26th to 30th Dec 2022. 

Prachi Parashar and Dalmi Riram, Final year BDS students won First prize for Scientific Paper Presentation in Undergraduate category. Uddesh Kumar won first prize in poster presentation while Prapti Mahapatra, Jasmine Jawed and Sidrah Akhtar won second prize in poster presentation session in their respective categories.

Many congratulations to the students for showing academic excellence at Scientific Conferences.

The way ahead with clear aligners: Clear Correct

A CDE program was organised by Department of Orthodontics, IDST in association with Clear Correct Aligners on the topic “The way ahead with clear aligners: Clear Correct” on 18th January 2023, Wednesday.

Resource faculty of this workshop was Dr Sonam Sethi (Clinical Advisor for Clear Correct with Straumann Dental India)

The program was attended by all the post-graduate students and faculty of the department and each received a certificate for the same. Overall, the program became a truly knowledgeable experience for all.

IDST students won another gold medal at an intercollege sports and cultural fest

We are elated to share that students of our college won FIRST POSITION in Volleyball and Tug of War in Annual Sports & Cultural Extravaganza "Occlusion" held at ITS Dental College on 9th & 10th December 2022.

It is a matter of pride for the institute that the students of IDST have won laurels at Inter-College Dental Fest "Esperanza 2022" hosted by Faculty of Dental Sciences, SGT University, Gurugram on 2nd, 3rd December 2022.

GIRLS CRICKET TEAM bagged GOLD MEDAL and GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM won SILVER MEDAL in Sports. Students in cricket team included Ayushi Dixit, Anamika Kumari, Bhawana Bhushan, Rasika Sinha, Ishani Sharma, Vanshika Sharma, Kehkashan Naseem, Manmeet Gill, Bushra Javed, Sanya Kumari and Jasmin Jawed. Students in volleyball team included Mehr ul Haram, Ananya Yadav, Sidrah Akhtar, Muskaan Hameed, Ishani Sharma, Vanshika Sharma and Manmeet Gill.

Soumya Sri won GOLD MEDAL in SOLO DANCING and Divyansh Rana won RUNNER UP prize in STAND UP COMEDY.

Prosthodontics

‘Not all heroes wear capes but all Doctors are Heroes’

 Doctor’s Day is celebrated every year on July 1st to commemorate the unwavering dedication and spirit of doctors across the globe who work day and night consistently to ensure the well-being of their patients.

The theme of this year’s Doctors' Day was 'Family Doctor on the Front Line'. The theme recognises the immense sacrifices,  and unwavering efforts made by the doctors especially during COVID-19 pandemic.

Department of Prosthodontics, IDST organised slogan writing contest and poster designing contest for the under graduates, post graduates and faculty of the college. The creativity and talent of many enthusiastic entries were witnessed. Dr. NidhiAgarwal, Vice- Principal and UG Incharge judged the competitions.

Periodontics

Under the auspices of Dr Vikram Gandhi, Secretary, DMET & Dr Shalu Rai, Principal, IDST, Department of Periodontology organized a one day Lecture, Demonstration and Hands- on Workshop on the topic Lasers in Dentistry - Current concepts by eminent speaker Dr MallikaSethi Rishi (Director, Gumsopolis®, Laser & Dental Care Centre, Gurugram) on 30th May 2022 to orient the undergraduate students with the concepts of Laser dentistry.

The students were briefed about laser tissue interactions and Dr Mallika also talked about the effective use of Lasers types in different fields of dentistry including Periodontology, Oral Medicine & Radiology, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Pedodontics.

Each and every registered udergraduate student got first-hand experience of using Lasers on Goat Jaws and Chicken Legs for different soft tissue surgical procedures like incisions, crown lenghthening, gingivectomy and depigmentation.

The event was highly valued and received overwhelming response from faculty and students of IDST.

The Demonstration & Hands-on were conducted in our highly sophisticated and fully digitalized “IDST Simulation Lab”. This Lab serves the purpose of acquiring skills in an environment similar to reality and also serves the “cognitive goal” as it helps the students to gain a lot of knowledge about the real work environment and its requirements. The realistic clinical simulation ensures student ease, confidence and competence.

The programme was organised and executed under the flagship of Dr Manish Khatri, Prof  & Head, Department of Periodontology and his team comprising of Dr MansiBansal (Professor), Dr MohdRehan (Reader) Dr SourabhMehrotra, Dr SakshiGaind& Dr PratikshaTripathi (Senior Lecturers).

Passive self-ligation system

Education is the most powerful weapon for the changing world. Continuing ahead with the great vision of Dr. Vikram Gandhi(Secretary DMET), Mrs. Asha Gandhi (chairperson DMET) and under the able guidance of Dr. Shalu Rai(Principal& HOD OMR, IDST), Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedicssuccessfully organized a CDE Programmeon Passive self-ligation system by a very renowed speaker Dr.C.S.Ramachandra Sir on 17^th Dec 2021.

The CDE programme began with Lamp lighting by the distinguished dignitaries followed by SaraswatiVandanaby BDS students and welcome speech by Prof. Dr.Shalu Rai(Principal& HOD OMR). The event was also graced by various dignitaries – Dr.Vikram Gandhi(Secretary DMET), Dr. Nidhi Aggarwal( Vice Principal), Dr.Gaurav Mittal( Director PG Studies), HODs of all departments and other faculty members.

Organizing chairman Dr.Achint Juneja( HOD, Department of Orthodontics ) introduced the guest speaker Dr.C.S.Ramachandra& a token of gratitude was given to all the guests from different colleges.

A very informative and educative lecture was given by Dr.C.S.Ramachandrawhich was followed by live demonstration of passive self ligation bonding and wire placement on patient.Healso explained each and every important tip for successful self-ligation cases. Post Lunch hands on programmewas conducted in Which every participant tried their hands on self ligating bonding and wire placement. A total of 70 Delegates from 9 Colleges in &Around Delhi NCR participated in thisevent. The event was concluded by vote of thanks by Dr. Ruchi Saini (Reader).

This successfullCDE programme was possible because of dedication and hard work of Dr. Achint Juneja(Professor and HOD), Dr.Stuti Mohan (Professor), all faculty members, post graduates and other staff members of Department of Orthodontics, IDST.

Digital Dentistry: 3 D Scanning using intraoral scanner

Continuing ahead with the great vision of Dr. Vikram Gandhi, Secretary DMET and able guidance of Dr. Shalu  Rai, Principal IDST, it is with immense joy to share the successful completion of workshop cum Hands-on organized by Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacialorthopedics on Digital Dentistry: 3 D Scanning using intraoral scanner. The program was conducted in association with 'iTero' at IDST Dental College under the able leadership of Dr.Achint Juneja, Professor & Head of Department of Orthodontics on 22nd November 2021.

The program started with introduction by Dr. Stuti Mohan, Professor, Orthodontics and Lecture on intraoral scanners by Dr.RajanTyagi followed by the live demonstration of intraoral scanning. Later, post graduate students of different departments and faculty members individually performed intraoral scanning and tried their hands on the new art of digital dentistry. The occasion was graced by various dignitaries- Mrs. Asha Gandhi madam, Chairperson DMET, Dr Vikram Gandhi, Secretary, DMET, Mrs .Radha Chaudhry and Mr. Vikas Chaudhry,  Dr Nidhi Aggarwal, Vice principal,  Dr.Gaurav Mittal, In charge PG Studies and HOD's of all the Departments and faculty members. The program was ended with vote of thanks by Dr. StutiMohan,Professor,  Department of Orthodontics.

DAMON COURSE

1^st Module – 23^rd March 2022

“THE ABILITY TO UPGRADE IS IMPORTANT “

Time is changing fast and thus we all need to upgrade and  give the best of treatment to our patients.

With this vision to improve treatment standards and quality of life under the leadership of Dr.Vikram Gandhi, Secretary DMET, and with the guidance of Dr.Shalu Rai mam (Principal & HOD, OMR), Department of Orthodontics and DentofacialOrthopedics has started the Damon course consisted of 4 modules for the Post graduate students of the department.

The modules consists of hands on training  on patients guided by Dr. C S Ramchandra Sir.

The first module was held on 23rd March 2022. The course mentor, Dr. C S Ramchandra Sir was introduced by Dr Achint Juneja, Professor & Head, Department of Orthodontics. First Module started with the lecture on "Basic Damon physiology and the science behind it" and later on all the patients undergoing treatment with Damon System were reviewed by Dr. C S Ramchandra sir and 4 new patients were started by the PG students and faculty members.

CDE Program- 'Anterior Esthetics with Direct & Semi-Direct Composite Veneers'

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics organized a 2 day course on 'Anterior Esthetics with Direct & Semi-Direct Composite Veneers' by distinguished speaker Dr. Nikhil Bahuguna on 19th, 20th April 2022.

Module 1 of the course consisted of lecture & demonstration on Direct Composite Veneers & Magnification with loupes. Participants got first-hand experience about histologic, polychromatic layering technique for performing Direct Composite Veneers on patient simulators.

Module 2 of the course imparted insightful information and hands on experience about Edelweiss Dentistry Veneers with polychromatic layering.

The event received overwhelming response from faculty and students of various colleges of Delhi- NCR region.

The demonstration & hands-on were conducted in 'State of Art IDST Simulation Lab.'

Thermoforming Technology using biostar and minister

Under the aegis of honorable Secretary DMET,Dr.Vikram Gandhi and able guidance of Dr.Shalu  Rai, Principal IDST, it is with immense joy to share the successful completion of workshop cum hands-on organized on Thermoforming Technology using biostar and ministarby Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial orthopaedics.The program was conducted in association with Libral Traders at IDST under the able leadership of Dr.Achint Juneja, Professor & Head of Department of Orthodontics on 13 July 2022.The program started with introduction by Dr.RuchiSaini, Reader, Orthodontics and lamp lightening followed by Lecture on Thermoforming Technology by Dr. Girish Narayan, Product Head, Scheu Dental and the live demonstration of making different appliances using thermoforming technolgy. Later, post graduate students of different departments and faculty members individually prepare extensive range of different appliances like retainers, expansion appliance, mouth guard, positioners, indirect bonding labial and lingual, OSA appliance, Fluoride tray, space maintainers, Surgical splints, TMJ splints, Custom impression trays, template for implants, bruxism splints and many more using Biostar and Ministar.The occasion was graced by various dignitaries- Dr Vikram Gandhi, Secretary, DMET, Dr Nidhi Aggarwal, Vice Principal, Dr.Gaurav Mittal, Director PG Studies and HOD's of all the Departments and faculty members.
